SHAH ALAM, May 4 — Selangor has recorded two dengue-related deaths during the epidemic week 18, bringing the total number casualties to 27, says the Selangor State Health Department (JKN).

JKN said the number of dengue cases registered during the week also increased with 710 cases compared to 626 cases during the epidemic week 17.

"The tally recorded during the epidemic week 18 saw a 12.6 per cent increase compared to the previous week. The cumulative drop in dengue cases compared to the corresponding epidemic week in 2019 is 7.7 per cent," JKN said through a Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) report yesterday.

The two deaths reported this week saw a 12.5 per cent increase compared to the corresponding epidemic week last year, which had recorded 24 cases.

JKN stated that the district with the highest recorded dengue outbreak is Petaling, with 8,121 cases compared to 7,834 cases in the previous week (21.6 per cent). The Hulu Langat district recorded 4,064 cases compared to 3,934 cases during the epidemic week 17 (14 per cent).

The department had also urged all district health offices and local authorities to execute the precautionary and preventive measures outlined by the authorities to contain the dengue infection.
