SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has urged the public not to rely on short videos to gain information as they may be accurate, and instead refer to credible sources.
His Royal Highness also urged people to leverage digital tools to deepen their knowledge and put it into practice.
“To all scholars, I hope this gathering will yield valuable conclusions, which can then be translated into effective action for the younger generation. Make good use of digital tools to deepen your knowledge and put it into practice.
“Do not just rely on snippets of information from short videos that may not be authentic or complete. Instead, refer to authoritative sources and seek guidance from recognised scholars,” he said in his speech at the Multaqa Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj event, held at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building here, today.
During the event, the Sultan also launched two books — Sheikhul Islam dan Mufti-Mufti Selangor (1930 to 2021) and Kompilasi Artikel Fatwa Tahun 2001-2005 (Jilid 1) — and the Selangor Mufti Department’s e-Fatwa system.
The Ruler also urged all citizens to continue upholding unity and to respect the institutions entrusted with managing Islamic affairs in the state.
“Examine history with honesty, discuss differences with decorum, and put forth proposals grounded in reality.”
Sultan Sharafuddin was accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
Also in attendance were Tengku Panglima Besar of Selangor Tengku Abdul Samad Shah, Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir, and Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad
The two-day Multaqa event, organised by the Selangor Mufti Department, gathers 2,000 participants including religious figures, public servants, and Islamic institution students.
