KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a collision involving two high-speed trains in rural Spain.
In a Facebook post, he said Malaysia stood in solidarity with the people of Spain during this difficult time.
"Our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, and we wish the injured a swift recovery," he said.
Anwar also paid tribute to emergency personnel and others working tirelessly at the scene.
"On behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, I extend our deepest condolences to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the government and people of Spain, and especially to the families of the victims," he said.

Yesterday, media reports said the death toll from last night’s collision in Castilla-La Mancha had more than doubled to at least 68, according to the regional government of the area, making it deadlier than a devastating rail accident near Adamuz in January.
The Malaysian Embassy in Madrid has yet to receive confirmation of any Malaysians affected by the collision.
