SHAH ALAM, March 21 — Despite his resurgence on the pitch, Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim continues to be haunted by questions over why he was targeted in an acid attack that nearly ended his career.
The Selangor FC captain said that although he has become calmer in facing the ordeal that occurred nearly two years ago, the question surrounding the incident remains unanswered.
“Although I may appear calm and steady in facing this test, the impact will never disappear. The scars on my body and face are still there.
“I keep wondering why this happened to me. But what is past is past; now is the time for me to return to football and prove that I can keep fighting,” he told Media Selangor.

Faisal, affectionately known as Mickey, said that he and his family are still traumatised by the incident, to the extent that they have had to limit their daily movements.
“I spend most of my time at home, at work, in training sessions, on the pitch, or at club programmes. Even going elsewhere requires careful thought.
“If I do go out, I have to stay alert to my surroundings at all times. I cannot afford to be careless; I have to be prepared for any possibility,” he said.
On May 5, 2024, Faisal was attacked with acid by an unidentified individual while at a shopping centre in Kota Damansara.
As a result of the incident, the football player suffered fourth-degree burns and had to undergo multiple surgeries as well as physiotherapy treatment.
