SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — A man who allegedly impersonated a personal bodyguard of the Raja Muda of Selangor is believed to have been involved in fraudulent activities since 2024, resulting in losses estimated at RM700,000.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the findings were based on nine police reports received so far.

Shazeli identified the main suspect as 40-year-old Al Zulfadly Alias, who is neither a palace employee nor affiliated with the Selangor royal institution.

“According to the police reports, these fraudulent activities have been ongoing since 2024.

“He has no connection to the Selangor royal institution or the palace staff.

“The suspect is merely an ordinary individual who took the opportunity to commit fraud,” he said at a press conference today, as quoted by Kosmo!

Shazeli added that background checks showed the suspect had no previous criminal record.

However, police have received 19 reports involving the suspect, including some lodged in other police contingents.

“Efforts to locate the suspect are currently underway. Members of the public with any information are urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Norizuana Saidin, at 014-7175567,” he said.

Shazeli also said police had arrested the main suspect's fiancée, who was found residing in Selangor, to assist with investigations.

The woman, a salon owner in her 30s, has been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

“We are also tracking down several other individuals believed to have assisted the suspect in his fraudulent activities,” he said.

Police previously said they were investigating a report lodged by the Sultan of Selangor's Security Control Office at Istana Mestika at 9.53 am on October 15 concerning the misuse of an image of the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah.

In a statement, the Selangor Palace administration also stressed that it would not protect anyone involved in the impersonation case.

One of the alleged victims, actor Muhammad Ridzuan Shahul Hamid, 34, previously claimed that he was introduced to the alleged mastermind, who was part of a couple, through an acquaintance.

He was subsequently offered a house priced at RM115,000 in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, in 2023.

Muhammad Ridzuan, also known as Dwan Hamid, said the individual claimed that the Raja Muda of Selangor had an allocation of 40 to 50 housing units in every housing project in the state, including low-cost homes, and that a RM15,000 deposit was required.
