KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat has denied any involvement in the Registrar of Societies’ (ROS) decision to cancel Perikatan Nasional's (PN) registration today.
Its secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Salleh described the claims by Parti Pejuang Tanahair president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir that the decision was made on Keadilan's recommendation as defamatory.
She also refuted his social media post featuring several slides purportedly detailing Keadilan's plan to deregister PN, which he claimed the party had presented at its 2026 National Congress in Melaka in August.
“I consider the use of slides that were never presented, in an attempt to link Keadilan to the ROS decision on PN, to be defamatory.
“I therefore demand that Mukhriz retract the allegation and apologise to Keadilan. Political differences are no licence to spread defamatory allegations,” Fuziah said in a Facebook post.
She added that the complaint which prompted the ROS action against PN concerned issues involving the coalition’s own component parties, and Keadilan had absolutely no involvement in the matter.
Earlier today, the ROS said it deregistered PN after finding that the coalition's explanation failed to rebut the grounds for deregistration stated in an earlier notice.
It made the decision after reviewing all documents and explanations PN submitted on Monday (October 12).
The ROS noted that the reasons provided by PN also failed to offer sufficient justification for maintaining the coalition’s registration.
