SHAH ALAM, Oct 17 — Selangor had the highest number of complaints on the MyLapor public health reporting platform, with 358 complaints of smoking and vaping in no-smoking areas, since the platform’s launch earlier this week.
According to a Berita Harian report, the Health Ministry (MOH) said Kuala Lumpur recorded the second-highest number of complaints at 210, followed by Johor at 160, from Monday to Thursday.
MyLapor is a digital complaints channel that allows the public to report smoking offences in no-smoking areas to MOH, while supporting enforcement under the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852).
MOH said most complaints were at eateries, which remain a key focus of monitoring and enforcement.
It said 1,113 complaints were received through the MyLapor system as of 2pm on Thursday.
“Of these, 471 complaints had been closed, while 347 were new complaints, 232 are under investigation, and another 63 are being processed for resolution and feedback,” it added.
MOH also confirmed 216 compounds had been issued under Act 852.
To ensure complaints are handled promptly, the ministry has a 48-hour target for complaint verification and resolution, but more complex reports are expected to take up to two weeks to be resolved.
The public may submit complaints on the MyLapor webpage or through the MySejahtera app by scanning MyLapor QR codes at premises.
