KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — Selangor will leverage the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) and other regional platforms to advance implementation of the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), expand partnerships across ASEAN and promote investment, trade, and mobility for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
Invest Selangor Berhad (Invest Selangor) chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris said the state government will continue using such platforms to connect with regional markets and build partnerships beyond individual events.
“In July, we brought the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) to Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, for the first time in its 10-year milestone.
“SIBS@ASEAN was held on July 9 and July 10 in collaboration with the West Java government. We chose Bandung because its economy is similar to Selangor.
“At the end of the event, we invited our partners to continue the collaboration at SIBS this week.
“This partnership does not end when the event does. As ASEAN continues to evolve, we will keep exploring opportunities in the regional market,” he said in his closing remarks during the Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC), in conjunction with SIBS 2026 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
Hasan added that RS-2 covers 2026 to 2030, and outlines six missions, 25 priority areas, and 98 initiatives, with a target of RM600 billion in economic value and RM330 billion in total investments by 2030, while reducing unemployment to 2.2 per cent.
The plan focuses on main industries including electrical and electronics (E&E), especially semiconductors, aerospace, automotive, smart manufacturing, and the digital and creative economies, which offer opportunities to create higher-income jobs for young people.
Selangor aims to become an ASEAN model state by 2030, and this ambition requires cooperation with regional partners and access to wider markets.
“The digital economy and the creative economy are the industries where young people can find high-income jobs.
“The plan also sets an ambition that suits this conference. By 2030, Selangor aims to be an ASEAN Model state. A model state cannot be built alone. It needs partners, markets, and peers,” he said.
