SHAH ALAM, Oct 14 — Schools in Selangor will reopen tomorrow after being shut today due to the haze, the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) said.
It encouraged students to use masks as a precaution as the haze persists.
It added that parents or guardians worried about their children’s health may choose not to send them to school.
“However, parents or guardians must inform schools of their children’s absence,” it said in a statement today.
JPNS asserted that student and school staff’s safety, health and well-being are its priority, and asked that everyone stay updated on haze conditions via its channels or the Education Ministry’s.
At 4pm, five out of six Selangor air quality monitoring stations recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, the highest being in Klang at 178, followed by 177 in Johan Setia, 164 in Banting, 163 in Shah Alam, and 157 in Petaling Jaya.
Only Kuala Selangor had a moderate-level reading, at 94.
