Selangor launches talent report to help investors plan growth

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — The Selangor government today launched a report on the state’s talent availability with an aim to help investors better understand its workforce capabilities and plan their expansion.

Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris said the report, titled Elevating Selangor’s Potential as a Global Talent Powerhouse, was drawn up in collaboration with recruitment firm Randstad Malaysia.

“(The report) provides an overview of talent availability across different disciplines to help businesses assess the workforce landscape in Selangor,” he told Media Selangor after the report was launched state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) here today.

In his speech, Hasan said the document is one of three initiatives introduced today to strengthen Selangor’s investment ecosystem, alongside the launch of the Investment Promotion Booklet and the presentation of Preferred Industrial Park (PIP) certificates.

He explained that the booklet would be used during investment promotions to highlight the state’s industrial parks, utilities, talent availability, and existing investors’ testimonials.

“When we are doing investment promotions, we will use this comprehensive booklet to explain the advantages of the industrial ecosystem in Selangor,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hasan said the PIP programme aims to better promote and enhance the visibility and appeal of Selangor’s industrial parks to potential investors.

“(Under the PIP programme), we invite various developers, especially industrial park developers, to help them promote their parks.

“As part of the package we are offering them, we will bring them together in our investment missions and (they will be included) in a specific programme with Astro Awani promoting industrial parks.”

Hasan said the three initiatives complement one another as investors need suitable locations and access to talent to establish and operate their businesses.

“This completes the investment ecosystem. (Investors) need locations and talent support to run their business, while the (Investment Promotion Booklet) covers pre-investment activities.”

Organised by Invest Selangor, SIBS is being held until Saturday at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

This 10th edition gathers investors, industry players and policymakers to explore business opportunities, strengthen industry collaboration and attract investment to Selangor and the wider ASEAN region.
