PUTRAJAYA, Oct 12 — Passengers travelling on the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services have been advised to allow extra travel time following disruptions caused by two incidents of signalling cable theft along the rail corridor.
Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) said the incidents, detected yesterday and early today, had extended restoration works and disrupted normal train operations.
The first incident, involving the theft of about 180m of signalling cable, was detected at about 9pm yesterday between Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Stations and Salak Tinggi Station at Kilometre (KM) 44.
“While restoration works were underway, a second act of vandalism was discovered at KM42 at 5.22am today, involving the theft of approximately 80m of signalling cable,” it said in a statement today.
ERL added that train services have since resumed as a combined service, operating at 20-minute intervals in both directions from 11.20am.
“Our technical teams are currently working to restore the system safely and as quickly as possible," it said.
Shuttle services were initially implemented following the disruptions, requiring passengers travelling to KL Sentral or KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 to change trains at the Putrajaya and Cyberjaya Stations to continue their journeys.
