SHAH ALAM, Oct 9 — Malaysians aged 18 and above who are not Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients will receive two one-off Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) Madani, once before Aidilfitri and once before Merdeka next year, compared with just once previously.
When tabling Budget 2027 at Parliament today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said SARA recipients will be able to use the aid to buy fresh food at 216 farmers’ markets and traditional village markets (pasar tamu) under the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) nationwide.
“This will benefit up to 13 million Malaysians, including those in the M40 income group,” he said, adding that the government is aiming to increase the number of participating mini markets to 10,000 by the end of this year.
“SARA has 15,000 participating outlets, including 6,800 mini markets and cooperatives,” he added.
Anwar also said STR recipients will receive up to RM150 a month, or RM1,800 per year, under SARA, to the benefit of up to nine million recipients.
