SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — Selangor’s Johan Setia and Johor’s Batu Pahat recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) readings nationwide at 190 as of 9am today, as unhealthy air quality persisted across the two states.
According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, Kuala Lumpur’s Cheras and Negeri Sembilan’s Nilai followed with readings of 189 each, while Putrajaya recorded 187.
In Selangor, Johan Setia recorded the highest API reading at 190, followed by Shah Alam (180), Petaling Jaya (176), Banting (176) and Klang (169), all in the unhealthy range.
Meanwhile, unhealthy readings were also recorded in Kemaman and Paka in Terengganu at 156 each, Tawau in Sabah (155), Tanjung Malim in Perak (154), Serian IPD in Sarawak (152), Tasek Ipoh in Perak (147), Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu (120), and Pegoh Ipoh in Perak (113).
Nationwide, 35 areas had unhealthy API readings as of 9am today.
An API reading of zero to 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.
The public has been advised to take precautions and limit outdoor activity, especially in areas with unhealthy API readings.
