SEREMBAN, Sept 26 — A student has been detained to assist investigations into the death of a Form Two student at a secondary school in Kuala Pilah yesterday.
"I have been informed that a student has been detained to assist investigations. The Education Ministry (MOE) and the school will give PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) our full cooperation to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation
"The entire MOE community extends its condolences to the family of the deceased. I met them at the hospital to convey my sympathies over this heartbreaking loss.
"I have directed the Inspectorate to conduct an immediate audit to identify any non-compliance. No party will be protected if wrongdoing or violations of the law are found.
"Appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings," said Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek in a statement today.
She added that safety and compliance with school procedures will also be reviewed comprehensively, while counselling and psychosocial support are being provided to the deceased's family and the affected school community.
"In this difficult time, our priority is the deceased's family and the welfare of the school community," Fadhlina said.
