KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Heavy rain in the federal capital this evening caused two trees to fall along the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), resulting in congestion stretching up to seven kilometres.
A Malaysian Highway Authority Traffic Management Centre representative said the incidents occurred near Bukit Lanjan and Jalan Duta.
The incidents occurred at 5.30pm, with the fallen trees blocking the emergency lanes and clearing works now underway along the affected stretch.
“The incident at Jalan Duta reportedly damaged a vehicle after it was hit by falling tree branches, but no casualties were reported.
“It also caused traffic congestion stretching up to seven kilometres,” he said when Bernama contacted him today.
He added that the incident near Bukit Lanjan did not involve any vehicles but caused congestion stretching about 6km during the evening rush hour before traffic returned to normal.
Highway users are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on traffic conditions via the official X account @LLMTrafik and the PLUS app.
