SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — The Selangor Culture Festival, held last week, empowered the state’s tourism sector while providing economic benefits to local traders and the community, said state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah.
He said the festival, now in its third year, also provides a platform for artists to showcase their talents and works, and features a variety of activities for the whole family.
“Activities featured at the festival included Gema Cempuling, cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, traditional sports, and children’s competitions.
“I believe development and progress are incomplete without identity and heritage. Arts, culture and heritage elements must keep being preserved, celebrated, and passed down to future generations,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday, the last day of the festival.
Earlier that day, he launched the Cultural Tourism Programme: Selangor Culture Festival 2026 at Dataran Pantai Batu Laut in Kuala Langat.
The festival, themed “Cultural Arts, Light of the State”, highlights a diverse range of artistic and cultural practices.
Borhan also expressed his appreciation to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry, the National Culture and Arts Department, and all parties involved in making the event a success.
