SHAH ALAM, Sept 22 — Selangor is eyeing stronger partnerships with Germany in hi-tech and talent development sectors, especially semiconductor and chip design, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He added that the effort includes an aim to position Selangor as a gateway for German companies that want to expand their operations to ASEAN.
He said a Selangor delegation to Germany toured the Berlin Adlershof Science and Technology Park, which gathers around 1,300 companies and 18 scientific institutions under a single ecosystem that links business, research and talent.
“Moving forward, we hope to strengthen collaborations through knowledge-sharing (sessions) on hi-tech ecosystems, positioning Selangor as a gateway for German companies that want to expand to ASEAN, and explore cooperation in talent, especially in the semiconductor and chip design sectors,” he added in a Facebook post today.
During the tour, the delegation visited the Siemens Energy facility to witness the state-of-the-art manufacture of gas turbines.
Also present were representatives from Siemens Malaysia and the Frankfurt branch of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
“This visit also gives us a chance to understand how advanced energy tech and manufacturing capabilities can support developing industry demand, at a time when the energy sector is moving towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
“This series of meetings are an important step in strengthening Selangor-Germany collaborations in the technology, investment, talent and energy fields,” Ng said.
