SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) issued 20 compounds and ordered the closure of nine premises following an integrated enforcement operation targeting foreign operated businesses in Ijok.
It said the operation was conducted on Thursday (September 17) from 9am to 1pm in the Celedonia and Taman Ijok Jaya areas, involving 32 enforcement personnel.
The operation followed public complaints and field monitoring which found premises operating without valid business licenses, as well as businesses operated entirely by foreign nationals.
Ten premises including grocery stores, eateries, supermarkets, barbershops, and car wash centres were inspected during the operation and various enforcement actions were taken.
“A total of 10 premises were inspected, including grocery stores, eateries, supermarkets, barbershops, and car wash centers.
“As a result of the inspections, various enforcement actions were taken against premises found to be in violation of license conditions or operating without a license,” MPKS said in a Facebook post.
Among the offences identified were failure to employ local workers as required under license conditions, displaying banners without permits, failing to maintain premises in a clean condition, and failing to comply with food handling requirements.
It added that action was taken against a premise found to be rearing live chicken, an activity prohibited under its license conditions.
“Among the offenses subject to compound fines was the violation of license conditions regarding the failure to employ local workers, in accordance with By-law 4(4)(c) of the Trade, Business, and Industrial Licensing By-laws (MDKS) 2007 and By-law 4(8) of the Beauty and Health Care Centre By-laws (MDKS) 2013.
“Action was also taken against premises operating without a license under By-law 3 of the Trade, Business, and Industrial Licensing By-laws (MDKS) 2007, including the unauthorised rearing of live chickens — an activity prohibited under the license conditions,” MPKS said.
The various offences detected during the operation resulted in 20 compounds being issued. Two seizure actions were similarly carried out at a grocery store and a car wash centre.
Items seized from the grocery store included two freezers, three gas cylinders, six single burner gas stoves, two desk fans, four electric rice cookers, and a digital scale.
At the car wash centre, enforcement officers seized a foam generator, an air compressor, a high pressure water jet, and a vacuum cleaner.
The operation resulted in 20 compounds, two seizure actions, and nine notices issued, while nine of the 10 premises inspected were subjected to closure orders through warning or business cessation notices.
The Selangor Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) issued a compound under the Registration of Businesses Rules 1957.
“MPKS will continue to intensify monitoring and integrated enforcement operations to ensure all business premises comply with licensing conditions, hygiene regulations and applicable laws.
“Enforcement action will be taken against any premises found to be in violation of regulations, ensuring that business activities in the Kuala Selangor district are conducted in an orderly and lawful manner, in compliance with the authorities’ directives,” it said.
