SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 — The Silver Jubilee celebration marking the 25-year reign of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj is being held in a modest manner to prioritise a sense of togetherness and a positive impact on the people.
Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said this approach aligns with His Royal Highness’s wish for the celebration to involve various segments of society across all districts.
“His Royal Highness wants all programmes implemented to be inclusive and to be engaging with people from all walks of life, regardless of background, thereby giving them the opportunity to share in and appreciate the significance of the celebration.
“He also emphasised that the celebration should be modest yet highly impactful for the people, while ensuring that all spending is prudent and transparent, prioritising the community's needs and benefits,” he said.
Fadzli was speaking as a guest during a special interview segment with Selangor FM today, in conjunction with Sultan Sharafuddin’s Silver Jubilee celebration.
He added that the overall programme planning involved discussions with state government departments and received His Royal Highness’s personal attention to ensure that every activity will benefit the people.
Orphans are among the groups that received special attention from the Ruler, specifically through the Kembara Semenanjung programme, which gave them the chance to enjoy new experiences, including flying on an airplane.
“His Royal Highness pays close attention to the welfare of orphans. A total of 149 orphans were given the experience of flying from Subang to Penang and back, accompanied by several artists.
“We hope that this experience will inspire them to strive for success, while also opening doors for them to explore the world and build self-confidence through experiences they might never have encountered before,” Fadzli said.
He noted that the Silver Jubilee celebrations, which currently comprise 19 distinct programmes, will engage with various segments of the public and feature activities focused on community, religion, sports, and talent development.
The highlight of the celebrations on October 25 will include the Ceremony for the Proclamation of Titles, the Swearing-in and Homage-paying Ceremony by the Orang Besar Istana and Dato’ Diraja Selangor, as well as the Selangor Investiture Ceremony.
Fadzli said these events serve as a significant means of expressing appreciation to individuals who have contributed throughout the Sultan’s 25-year reign, while also recognising their service and commitment to the state and its people.
As such, he hopes that all state government staff will maintain their health and demonstrate their utmost commitment throughout the Silver Jubilee celebrations, which Fadzli described as a truly special experience.
