KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the people to play their part in addressing the haze, while the government continues to seek solutions in everyone’s interest.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said he performed special prayers (solat hajat) with congregants after Friday prayers at Surau Nur Perdana in Precinct 10, Putrajaya, today, seeking God’s help for the country to recover from the disaster.
The prime minister also urged the public to use energy wisely.
“I want to urge all of us to manage our energy consumption as prudently as possible at this time so each of us can play our part, while I, on behalf of the government, continue to work to safeguard and protect everyone,” he said.
Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan called on mosques and surau nationwide to hold solat hajat and offer supplications for God’s protection from the haze.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 31 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 10pm today — the highest being Selangor’s Johan Setia (173), followed by Perak’s Seri Manjung (170) and Sarawak’s Kuching (170).
