SHAH ALAM, Sept 18 — A 17-year-old boy was remanded for seven days by the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court today for allegedly stabbing his brother-in-law three times while the victim was asleep at a house in Taman Desa Sri Banang, Minyak Beku, yesterday.
The remand order against the suspect, who works as an assistant at a second-hand goods shop, was granted by Magistrate Mustaqim Sukarno to allow police to complete their investigation, BH Online reported.
In the incident at about 5 am, the suspect allegedly kicked the 18-year-old victim while he was sleeping before stabbing him in the chest and back with a 14.5cm knife.
The seriously injured victim was then taken to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) by his mother-in-law and remains under treatment.
A day before the incident, the victim and his wife, who is also the suspect’s 14-year-old sister, had allegedly argued at about 5 pm. The suspect reportedly witnessed the argument but remained silent.
The suspect is believed to have returned to Rengit on the night before the incident before making his way back to the victim’s home without the other family members noticing.
After allegedly stabbing the victim, the suspect fled before being arrested by police at a second-hand goods shop at about 12.30 pm yesterday.
Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said when contacted that the victim remained under treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
