PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 — Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) management director Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid has been appointed PDRM deputy inspector-general, effective September 9.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment was authorised by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the advice of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and upon the recommendation of the Police Force Commission, in accordance with Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution.
“Abdul Aziz’s expertise and experience in policing, coupled with his strong leadership and competence, make him well suited to serve as deputy inspector-general of police,” he said in a statement today.
Aziz, 59, was born in Penaga, Penang, on February 19, 1967, and holds a Master of Social Sciences (Police Studies) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
He joined PDRM on July 1, 1995, and has served in various departments throughout his career.
He has held key positions in PDRM including management director, special branch deputy director, and Penang police deputy chief.
Aziz has attended various international courses and seminars, including the International Symposium of Best Police Practice in Dubai and the Intelligence Management Development Programme in Australia.
