SHAH ALAM, Sept 11– Police are hunting for four to five more syndicate members linked to a large-scale drug processing laboratory in Puncak Alam, Selangor, with some individuals are believed to have fled overseas.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that all suspects have been identified, and efforts to locate them are underway.
“We have identified them, and we will track them down. It is only a matter of time before we locate them,” he said, as reported by Berita Harian.
However, he declined to disclose the countries where the suspects are believed to have fled.
Hussein added that all the individuals being sought have prior involvement in drug-related activities.
The manhunt follows an investigation into the syndicate linked to the large-scale drug processing laboratory in Puncak Alam, which resulted in the seizure of drugs estimated to be worth RM2.4 billion.
The laboratory is believed to have produced drugs worth billions of ringgit before its operations were exposed during an NCID raid on August 15 under Op Eumenes.
During the raid, police seized over 13 tonnes of MDMA, in both liquid and powder forms along with other types of drugs, with the total seizure estimated at RM2.4 billion.
The operation was part of six simultaneous and follow-up raids across Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, conducted after police gathered intelligence and monitored the syndicate.
The seized items included approximately 7.09 tonnes of liquid MDMA and 6.06 tonnes of MDMA powder.
Police also seized 1.04kilogrammes(kg) of cannabis, 880grammes(g) of Erimin-5 pills, 180g of ketamine, 150g of Yaba pills, and 50g of methamphetamine.
Previously, a man shot dead by police during an anti-drug operation in Seremban was believed to be the mastermind behind the laboratory.
Investigations revealed that the man led the syndicate and was responsible for importing equipment from abroad and recruiting other syndicate members.
