Unhealthy air quality recorded in six Selangor areas

SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Six areas in Selangor maintain its unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 10.49pm today. 

According to data from the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal,Johan Setia recorded the highest reading at 165. 

Shah Alam recorded the second highest API reading at 162, followed by Banting (158), Klang (155), Petaling Jaya (153) and Kuala Selangor (152).

Worse conditions were recorded in Sarawak, where three areas recorded very unhealthy readings, namely IPD Serian with a reading of 224, Kuching (218) and Samarahan (207).

Several other areas in the state also recorded unhealthy readings, including Sri Aman (194), Sarikei (181), Samalaju (177), ILP Miri (176), Mukah (175), Bintulu (165), Miri (162) and Sibu (159).

In the Klang Valley, Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur recorded an API reading of 166, followed by Cheras (161), while Putrajaya recorded 157.

Other areas that recorded unhealthy readings were Tasek Ipoh and Nilai at 159 each, Tanjung Malim (158), Seri Manjung (156), Seremban (154), Pegoh Ipoh, Bukit Rambai and Kuala Selangor at 152 each, and Alor Gajah (151).

Meanwhile, most other areas in the peninsula, Sabah and Labuan continued to record moderate readings ranging from 51 to 100.

Under the API classification, readings between 101 and 200 are categorised as unhealthy, while readings between 201 and 300 are categorised as very unhealthy.
