Former minister released after remand over Tabung Haji RCI probe

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — A former minister who was remanded to assist in investigations into issues related to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) Report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) was released today. 

According to a source, the man in his 60s underwent a seven-day remand and was released upon the expiry of the remand order, Bernama reported. 

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman, when contacted, confirmed the matter and said the former minister was released on MACC bail. 

Abd Halim had previously said that the case was being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009. 

The MACC had obtained remand orders against 11 individuals to assist in investigations into issues related to the TH RCI report. They included a former TH chairman, a former chief executive officer, as well as several senior management members and individuals linked to related companies.
