SHAH ALAM, Sep 7 — Johan Setia recorded an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 184, the highest among nine areas in the Klang Valley with unhealthy air quality as of 8 am today.

Elsewhere in Selangor, Shah Alam recorded an API of 166, while Petaling Jaya, Banting and Klang each registered 158. Kuala Selangor recorded 157.

Also recording unhealthy air quality were Batu Muda and Putrajaya, both at 163, while Cheras registered 160.

According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 40 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy air quality, while Samarahan, Sarawak, registered a very unhealthy API reading of 226.

In Sarawak, 11 other areas recorded unhealthy readings: Sarikei (194), IPD Serian (193), Kuching (192), Sri Aman and Sibu (183), Mukah (182), Samalaju (179), Bintulu (172), ILP Miri (169), Miri (166) and Limbang (149).

Three areas in Negeri Sembilan also recorded unhealthy air quality, with Nilai at 166, Seremban at 164 and Port Dickson at 125.

In Melaka, Bukit Rambai and Alor Gajah each registered an API of 154, while Melaka City recorded 111.

Five areas in Perak were also affected, namely Tanjung Malim (160), Seri Manjung (159), Tasek Ipoh (156), Pegoh Ipoh (152) and Taiping (132).

In Pahang, Temerloh and Jerantut recorded readings of 153 and 140 respectively.

In Johor, Segamat recorded an API of 157, followed by Batu Pahat (157), Tangkak (154) and Kluang (151).

Kota Kinabalu and Kimanis in Sabah each recorded an API reading of 153.

Meanwhile, 24 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, while two registered good readings.

API readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
