SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — A RM300 school bus fare assistance from the Selangor government is providing much-needed relief for B40 families struggling to cover their children's daily transport costs to Tamil primary schools (SJKTs).
Recipients said the aid would help reduce monthly household expenses, particularly as families continue to grapple with the rising cost of living.
Senthil Kumar, 42, whose three children travel to school by bus each day, said the assistance would offset a significant portion of the family's transport expenses.
“School bus fares for my three children cost more than RM300 a month for a journey of around four kilometres.
“This assistance from the state government will go a long way in easing our monthly financial burden,” he said.
Meanwhile, homemaker Durgadevi, 35, said it was the first time her family had received the assistance through the school.
“I was thrilled to be selected for this aid because transport costs for my two children amount to RM280 a month.
“The efforts of both the school and the state government are crucial in ensuring families in need are not left behind,” she said.
Another recipient, Bathmawaty, 46, a nurse, also expressed her gratitude for the initiative.
“This voucher is a great help in covering my child's school transport costs, which come to about RM150 a month for a journey of nearly 10 kilometres,” she said.
