SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 — The Selangor contingent secured three victories at the 2026 Malaysian Para Games (SUKMA) badminton competition at the Shah Alam Youth and Sports Complex here today.
In this morning’s matches, Ahmad Najmi Aminudin led Selangor to victory in the SH6 men’s singles (short stature) event, defeating Terengganu’s Ahmad Shahir Osman 2-1.
Selangor also won the SL3 men’s singles (standing lower) event through Muhammad Faiz Asri, who defeated Pahang’s Muhammad Afiq Suhaimy 2-0.
In the afternoon session, Muhammad Huzairi and Yashaiful Yayah secured Selangor’s third victory after defeating Kedah’s N Diness and Muhamad Noor Halimin 2-0 in the SL3-SU5 men’s doubles event.
However, Selangor started the day with a defeat when SH6 representative Muhamad Shah Helmi Mohamad Yazid lost 0-2 to Sarawak’s Ryllan Cornellius Megan Anak Rudy.
In the WH1 (wheelchair) men’s singles event, Selangor’s Muhammad Farid Amjad Roslan defeated teammate M Loga Rajah 2-0.
Selangor then suffered another defeat in the SU5 men’s singles (standing upper) event when Syed Alif Kamil Syed Khairul Azwi lost 1-2 to Penang’s Muhamad Zarif Haikal Abdul Halim.
In the WH2 men’s singles event, Selangor’s Muhammad Hafiz Ahmat also lost 0-2 to Perak’s Mohamad Shafiq Mohamed Jamil.
Meanwhile, the Selangor pair of Suria Sarvin and Mohamad Hakimi failed to add to the team’s tally after losing 0-2 to Sarawak’s Joe Abell Anak Joseph Sidemy and Davis Ting Elvis Hans in another SU5 men’s doubles event.
The Para SUKMA badminton competition continues as athletes and pairs vie for the best positions before advancing to the next stage.
After topping the overall medal tally at SUKMA 2026, the Selangor contingent is targeting 60 gold medals at the Para SUKMA Games, which run from Sept 5 to 10.
Contingent leader Lim Yi Wei previously expressed confidence that the target could be achieved, estimating Selangor’s advantage as host to boost chances to secure more medals.
