SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — Johan Setia and Banting became Selangor’s two areas with unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings — 159 and 108 — as of 5pm today.
The API Management System (APIMS) portal meanwhile showed that six areas in Sarawak have very unhealthy readings, with Kuching logging the highest figure at 271 followed by IPD Serian (243), Sri Aman (237), Samarahan (211), Bintulu (210), and Samalaju (208).
Sarawak’s localities with unhealthy readings were Miri ILP (191), Mukah (189), Miri (184), Sarikei (180), Sibu (176), Limbang (162), and Kapit (152).
Meanwhile, Labuan and Sabah’s Kimanis each logged 170, followed by Melaka’s Bukit Rambai (158), and Johor’s Batu Pahat and Sabah’s Kota Kinabalu both at 157.
The API reading in Negeri Sembilan’s Nilai and Johor’s Segamat were both 156, while Negeri Sembilan’s Seremban, Melaka’s Alor Gajah and Johor’s Kluang are all at 155.
Also at unhealthy levels are Johor’s Larkin (152), Putrajaya (151), Pahang’s Balok Baru Kuantan (149), Negeri Sembilan’s Port Dickson (114), dan Bandaraya Melaka (111).
Twenty-five areas had moderate API readings, while 10 had good ones. No localities reported hazardous readings.
An API reading of between 101 to 200 is unhealthy, while 201 to 300 is very unhealthy. Anything above 300 is considered hazardous.
