PETALING JAYA, Sept 3 — P-hailing riders in Selangor may now enjoy rest stops across Selangor’s 12 municipalities under the Tempat Elok Untuk Hentian (Good Place to Stop, or TEDUH) initiative, said state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah.
He said the facilities let riders rest between orders and shelter from the rain or heat.
“With the hot weather and growing demands, especially from platforms pushing faster responses and shorter delivery times, there is certainly pressure on the riders.
“With these TEDUH centres, it can help ease the pressure on p-hailing riders,” he told reporters after officiating the TEDUH@MBPJ (Petaling Jaya City Council) in SS2 here today.
Fahmi added that the Selangor government has given RM30,000 to each local council to develop the facility, with more funds to be provided on a case-by-case basis.
“The additional allocation is determined by the local councils themselves based on the capacity of riders in their respective areas and the size of the (TEDUH) facility they want to build.
“However, each place must (house) standard features such as fans, seating areas, covered motorcycle parking if possible, and phone-charging facilities.”
TEDUH@MBPJ was developed at a total cost of RM130,000, comprising the RM30,000 initial allocation from the state government and an additional RM100,000 from MBPJ meant to streamline the structure and make it more secure.
Fahmi said Phase 1 of TEDUH involved five local councils before its expansion to all of Selangor’s 12 municipalities.
“We will have launches at other places and the next one may be in Sepang,” he added.
TEDUH was introduced on September 25 last year so p-hailing riders may rest in a safe area between or after deliveries.
