KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — The roller coaster involved in the August 22 incident at Sunway Lagoon in Subang Jaya, believed to have stopped abruptly after failing to move forward during a ride, has remained closed while investigations are ongoing.

Sunway Lagoon Sdn Bhd said in a statement today that it is working closely with the authorities and is providing its full cooperation with the investigation.

“Sunway Theme Parks remains firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and to ensuring the well-being of everyone who visits our parks,” it said.

It confirmed that guests who were admitted to hospital for observation after the incident have been discharged.

“We recognise that the incident was distressing for those involved and caused understandable concern among their families.

“We sincerely regret what our guests experienced and remain in close contact with those affected to provide the necessary assistance and support,” it added.

“We understand that the incident has also raised concerns among our guests and the wider public about the safety of our attractions, and we take these concerns seriously,” Sunway Lagoon said.
