SHAH ALAM, Aug 26 — Five locations in Selangor recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings this morning, according to data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal.
Johan Setia recorded the highest reading in the state at 161, followed by Shah Alam (158), Banting (151), Klang (135) and Petaling Jaya (112).
All five readings were in the unhealthy category, which covers API levels from 101 to 200.
Nationwide, Serian in Sarawak recorded the highest API reading at 170, followed by Sri Aman, Sarawak (169), and Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (162).
Samarahan, Sarawak, recorded an API reading of 161, while Putrajaya registered 159.
Several other areas also recorded unhealthy air quality, including Seremban (158), Cheras (155), Bukit Rambai and Tangkak (153 each), and Alor Gajah (152).
Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur recorded an API reading of 151, while Taiping and Kuching each registered 134.
Under the API classification, readings between zero and 50 are considered good, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.
