KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a Level One (Caution Category) hot weather status for 17 areas across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.
It said 11 of the affected areas are in Peninsular Malaysia, including Larut and Matang, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, and Batang Padang in Perak; Kuala Krai in Kelantan; Kuantan, Raub, Temerloh, and Pekan in Pahang; and Hulu Selangor and Gombak in Selangor.
Five areas in Sabah are under the same status: Telupid, Tenom, Sandakan, Pitas, and Beluran, while Marudi is the only affected area in Sarawak.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said that the Level One hot weather alert is issued when the maximum daily temperature in an area reaches between 35°C and 37°C for at least three consecutive days.
