KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 24 — Five main roads in Kajang will be closed in stages from Wednesday ahead of Selangor’s Merdeka Eve celebration at Kajang Stadium on August 30.
Kajang district police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the closures are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic and public safety during the event.
He said Jalan Mahkamah would be closed from Wednesday to Sunday, while four other roads — Jalan Cempaka Putih, Jalan Cempaka Kuning, Jalan Stadium and Jalan Cheras — would be closed in stages.
“The phased closures for the rehearsals will be from 8.30am to 10.30am and 7pm to 10pm on August 28, as well as from 7pm to 10pm on August 29.
“All the roads involved will then be closed on the main day of the celebration, August 30, from 8am until the event ends,” he said in a statement today.
Naazron advised people to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid traffic jams around the venue, and urged motorists to comply with orders from police officers and personnel there.
To facilitate visitor movement, organisers have provided designated parking areas around the venue.
Visitors are advised to use shuttle buses from several major rail stations, including the Sungai Jernih MRT, Bukit Dukung MRT, Jalan Bukit MRT, Jalan Reko LRT, and Kajang 2 LRT stations.
Meanwhile, he said medical personnel and ambulances from Kajang Hospital, St John Ambulance Malaysia, Kajang Plaza Medical Centre (KPMC) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) would be stationed at strategic locations to respond to any emergencies.
