SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — The Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB) has set a national record for the live broadcast of chess matches held in conjunction with the 2026 Selangor Malaysia Games (SUKMA).
It said the Most Chess Boards In A Live Broadcast record was achieved through a live broadcast featuring 98 chess boards at Dewan Seri Bernam, Sungai Besar.
“Every board was broadcast live, allowing the players’ moves to be transmitted digitally.
“Viewers were not limited to just a few main boards, but could follow matches taking place simultaneously,” MDSB said in a Facebook post.
It added that the approach enabled the chess tournament to reach audiences beyond the competition venue, thereby expanding its viewership.
