KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), through its Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), has opened five investigation papers into cases involving Lembaga Tabung Haji, including matters raised in the Tabung Haji Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report.
CCID director Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said 127 people had so far had their statements recorded to assist the investigations.
“Several more people will be called to have their statements recorded, including witnesses from overseas,” he said in a statement today.
The investigations are being conducted under several laws, including the Penal Code, the Tabung Haji Act 1995, the Companies Act 1965, and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
Rusdi added that PDRM remains committed to ensuring that all investigations are conducted independently, transparently, and professionally in accordance with the law.
“Any party found to be involved in any criminal conduct will be subject to appropriate action under the applicable laws,” he said.
Meanwhile, PDRM urged the public not to speculate or disseminate unverified information regarding the ongoing investigations.
It also advised the public to obtain information on developments in the investigations only through official channels to avoid confusion and prevent any disruption to the investigation process.
