
SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — Selangor swimmer Shannon Tan Yang-Qing made waves at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) today after breaking the Games record in the women’s 200m butterfly heats this morning.
Shannon clocked 2:15.77, eclipsing the previous SUKMA record of 2:17.79.
Her time, however, remains shy of the national record of 2:14.30.
Another Selangor swimmer, Khor Yue Lynn, also booked her place in the final after clocking 2:23.48 in the heats.
Shannon and Yue Lynn will return to the pool in pursuit of medals in the women’s 200m butterfly final this afternoon.
