Police examine possible stress link in teacher’s sudden death

SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 — Police are still investigating the death of a Hulu Selangor teacher who was found unconscious at a school late last month.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said investigators were examining various factors, including whether stress might have played a role in the case, which has so far been classified as a sudden death report (SDR), according to the Malay Mail.

“Statements have been taken from several individuals, including the deceased’s colleagues, as we want to establish the cause.

“The investigation is not yet complete. There are still many people we need to call in to verify information,” Shazeli said at a press conference on the Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department’s operations on August 19.

The teacher was found unconscious at a school in Hulu Selangor and was later pronounced dead while receiving treatment at a hospital on July 31.

In another development, Shazeli said police were also investigating allegations that a workshop in Kampung Bukit Kapar, Klang, was deliberately set on fire to destroy evidence.

The premises have been linked to a foreign national suspected of illegally dismantling and selling vehicle parts.

“At this stage, I am not entirely convinced it is a syndicate because only two foreign nationals, the owner and an employee, have been arrested.

“However, we cannot rule out the possibility of a wider syndicate operating elsewhere, with the premises merely used to dismantle the vehicles.

“We are also investigating the landowner to determine why the property was rented to foreign nationals,” he said.

A foreign man in his 20s was arrested to assist investigations after a suspected stolen hearse was found at a used-vehicle workshop in Bukit Kapar at 7.20 pm on August 7.

The Immigration Department also detained 20 foreign nationals during a targeted raid on Jalan Kapar at about 4.30 pm on August 12.

Besides uncovering an operation allegedly involved in dismantling and selling stolen vehicles, the raid also led to the discovery of a suspected ‘safe house’ used to shelter undocumented migrants awaiting repatriation.
