KAJANG, Aug 18 — Nur Ieka Hariesya Zainal Habsahli gave the Selangor SUKMA archery camp its first medal with her silver from the 70m recurve event, at INSPEN Stadium here this morning.
During her event, Nur Ieka scored 643 points in a tight match against Sarawak’s Joey Tan Xing Lei, but had to settle for second.
When met, Nur Ieka said that although she was nervous, she managed to calm down in the third round.
“(I’m) a bit disappointed because even at the last SUKMA I couldn’t beat Joey Tan. God willing, for the elimination round, I will try to make up for it,” she told Media Selangor.
Meanwhile, Selangor coach Wan Mohd Khalmizan Wahab Aziz said he was satisfied with Nur Ieka’s performance even though she narrowly missed gold.
“At the beginning we saw a chance to get gold today. In the second set, the scores were close, but just our luck, we (lost) by a 10-point difference.
“But I think the performance was satisfactory for this morning's session. In the afternoon session we have (elimination) rounds. For individual (events) we’re not targeting medals; our focus is more on team events after this,” Khalmizan said.
