BANGI, Aug 10 — Pakatan Harapan prioritises political stability and the people's interests when considering any form of political cooperation with other parties or coalitions, said its Presidential Council member Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president said Harapan remains open to establishing cooperation or reaching an understanding with any party or coalition that upholds these two principles.
“Cooperation with any party, not just Bersatu or Perikatan Nasional, can be considered, provided the underlying principles remain political stability and the well-being of the people,” he told the media after officiating the Ecology International Conference II 2026 today.
The Selangor Menteri Besar also denied that Selangor Harapan had entered into any cooperation with Bersatu, emphasising that no discussions or decisions involving the party had taken place.
Any potential cooperation must be evaluated rationally at the central level, taking into account factors such as election timing and other relevant circumstances.
“Of course, I cannot decide on my own, as I also share responsibility with the central leadership.
“So, if there are discussions (at the Selangor Harapan level), I will bring the matter to the central leadership. What exists currently are merely external ideas or views, which may stem from political realignments at the national level or in the context of a state election,” Amirudin said.
On Friday (August 7), media reports indicated that Selangor Harapan appeared open to collaborating with Bersatu, particularly at the state level.
The alignment is believed to aim to ensure both parties remain relevant and strong ahead of upcoming elections, including the general election and the upcoming Melaka state election.
