NEW YORK, July 28 — Apple briefly surpassed a market capitalisation of US$5 trillion (about RM20.45 trillion) yesterday, becoming only the second company after Nvidia to reach the historic milestone.
The company's shares were last up 0.72 per cent at US$339.33 , giving it a market value of US$4.98 trillion (about RM20.37 trillion). Earlier in the session, the stock climbed to a record high of US$342.89, lifting Apple's market capitalisation to US$5.036 trillion (about RM20.60 trillion).
Apple regained its position as the world's most valuable listed company earlier this month, overtaking chipmaker Nvidia, which had held the top spot since June 2025 and was the first company to exceed a US$5 trillion (about RM20.45 trillion) valuation.
Nvidia shares were last up 0.53 per cent at US$197.63 , valuing the company at US$4.78 trillion (about RM19.55 trillion).
Apple has benefited from resilient demand for its products and its decision to avoid the costly artificial intelligence spending race that has weighed on the cash flows of many of its Big Tech rivals.
Its shares have gained about 25 per cent this year, outperforming other members of the so-called ‘Magnificent Seven’, including Nvidia, Meta, Alphabet and Microsoft.

Instead of investing heavily in AI infrastructure, the iPhone maker has relied on Google's AI technology to power new features, including an upgraded Siri digital assistant.
Analysts also said Apple's decision to keep iPhone prices unchanged while raising prices for MacBooks and iPads last month helped drive demand, as consumers rushed to buy the flagship smartphone ahead of expected price increases later this year.
Apple is scheduled to report its third-quarter earnings after the market closes tomorrow, with analysts expecting quarterly revenue to rise by more than 15 per cent from a year earlier.
