SEREMBAN, July 28 — Approximately 91.06 per cent or 14,995 early voters for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election have fulfilled their responsibility today, exceeding the 90 per cent target set by the Election Commission (EC).

EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said 16,467 military personnel and their spouses as well as police personnel were eligible to vote early in the state election.

"The voting process, which began at 8am, involved 38 polling centres statewide before they closed in stages from noon to 5pm.

"Of these, 18 polling centres closed at noon, two at 2pm, while the remaining 18 centres closed at 5pm," he said in a statement.

Khairul added that the EC recorded its appreciation to all returning officers and their teams for carrying out their responsibilities very well today.

"We thank the Negeri Sembilan State Secretary’s Office, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, media personnel, and all parties directly and indirectly involved for their cooperation and support extended to the EC," he said.

Approximately 867,151 voters are eligible to cast their ballots this Saturday.
