CYBERJAYA, July 28 — The government will offer three months of free access and subscriptions to leading artificial intelligence (AI) software to young Malaysians aged 18 to 30 who successfully complete AI courses under the Rakyat Digital platform, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The offer forms part of the AI Untuk Rakyat programme, launched to accelerate AI literacy and adoption, particularly among young people.
“We will begin with a youth cohort aged between 18 and 30, with the Ministry of Digital developing the course modules.
“Those who successfully complete the AI courses will receive a free three-month subscription to leading AI applications,” he said during the launch of AI Malaysia today.
Present were Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
Anwar added that the programme will offer modules covering AI Safety, Cyber SAFE, Agentic AI, Generative AI, and Cloud Untuk Rakyat.
He emphasised that the free AI software access and subscriptions will only be available to participants who complete the courses.
“We want to ensure that the AI Untuk Rakyat programme, which is free of charge, opens on August 31. We will launch it on Merdeka Day, and it is expected to benefit 100,000 young people,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister noted that the government is determined to ensure that no one is left behind as Malaysia accelerates its adoption of AI technologies.
“That is why the use of AI and public awareness campaigns on AI must be intensified as a national priority,” he said.
