SHAH ALAM, July 27 — The forest fire extinguishing operation in the hilly area of Bandar Puncak Alam was fully controlled by 1.30pm before the operation ended at 3pm today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the fire involved a hilly area covering approximately 4.45 hectares.
The firefighting operation involved personnel from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Bukit Jelutong BBP and the Saujana Utama Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS).
"The Bestari Jaya BBP conducted firefighting operations in the hilly area near a school football field, while the Bukit Jelutong BBP carried out firefighting in the hilly area near a residential area, whereas the Saujana Utama PBS conducted firefighting in the hilly area beside a school near a residential area," he said in a statement.
Ashrul added that after the fire was successfully extinguished, JBPM personnel carried out an inspection around the location to ensure there were no more sources that could reignite the fire before the operation was concluded.
Two schools near the incident location: SK Puncak Alam 2 and SRA Puncak Alam, were temporarily closed during the firefighting operation on the orders of the Kuala Selangor District Education Office.
