SHAH ALAM, July 27 — A forest fire broke out on a hill next to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Puncak Alam 2 this morning, raising concerns among parents and the school community.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Ashbar said the department received an emergency call at 10.06am.
A fire engine from the Bestari Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was then dispatched to the scene.
He said the firefighting operation was also assisted by the Saujana Utama Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS).
“The operation commander reported that the fire involved about two acres of forested area on a hill.
“Firefighters are currently constructing a firebreak to prevent the fire from spreading further, while firefighting operations are being carried out with the assistance of PBS Saujana Utama,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, photos and videos of the incident at Lorong Gugusan 7/20, Puncak Alam, went viral on social media.
