SEREMBAN, July 20 — Pakatan Harapan today unveiled its manifesto, themed “Negeri Sembilan Kekal Harapan (Negeri Sembilan Remains Harapan)”, outlining 10 commitments for the 16th Negeri Sembilan election.
The manifesto was launched by Negeri Sembilan Harapan chairman and caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun here today.
The commitments are:
Providing a stable, clean and people-centric government
Strengthening Skim Sejahtera Rakyat (SSR)
Building a competitive economy and providing 30,000 high-income jobs
Ensuring quality education for all
Building 20,000 affordable homes and resolving land-related issues
Prioritising youth, women and families
Developing the tourism and cultural heritage sectors and implementing the FELDA Development Plan
Modernising agriculture and strengthening food security
Delivering strategic infrastructure and quality healthcare service
Promoting interfaith unity
At a press conference after launching the manifesto, Aminuddin said the commitments are deliverable promises, not mere rhetoric.
“If before this we kept emphasising what we want to do, this time we are improving and strengthening (plans) for the next five years.
“These five years are for us to ensure (these plans) are truly realised, and the priority is to make it so Negeri Sembilan has a foundation we can (pass down) to our children and grandchildren in the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, Harapan election director and Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the bloc is banking on Aminuddin’s clean record and service-oriented leadership to retain its mandate in Negeri Sembilan.
“Support has been very good. I have met many people and they do not have any major issues (with Aminuddin). There has been no major scandal associated with the Pakatan Harapan administration from the beginning until now,” he told Bernama here today.
Amirudin, who is also Selangor menteri besar, said he is confident the positive response would translate into votes for Harapan.
Also present at the launch were Harapan deputy chairman and DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, Harapan election director and Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice-president Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Keadilan secretary-general Datuk Fuziah Salleh, and Amang vice-president Datuk Mohd Hatta Md Ramli.
In his launch speech, Aminuddin, who is also Negeri Sembilan Keadilan chairman, said he wants the state to become a new national growth corridor that links the Klang Valley strategic economic zone with the southern region.
He said the state’s geographical location near the capital, its logistics, road and port networks, and its proximity to international airports positions it as a new point of growth.
The Keadilan vice-president said the development network from Kuala Lumpur as a financial hub, Selangor as an industrial engine, and Melaka as a tourism and maritime centre must be integrated with Negeri Sembilan in a complementary ecosystem.
“At the centre of this corridor stands Negeri Sembilan. Negeri Sembilan is no longer a state on the way (to other states), but is set to become a hub for that journey, from a transit state to a state that is the main destination for investment and innovation,” he added.
Aminuddin said various economic driver projects like the rebranded Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0, NS Semiconductor Valley, and Nilai Advanced Photonic AI Manufacturing City were planned specifically to provide more high-salary jobs for local youth.
Citing the development of the Hokkaido province in Japan, he said he wants to make Negeri Sembilan an example of balanced development where modern industrial progress moves in tandem with natural beauty and the uniqueness of the state’s Perpatih custom.
“Real progress isn’t just measured with statistical figures or how majestic buildings are, but is instead measured by the people’s quality of life. Are children getting good jobs, families owning their homes, and local entrepreneurs continuing to grow?” he added.
Aminuddin urged the people of Negeri Sembilan to give Harapan the mandate once again, so the Negeri Sembilan Progresses 2045 Vision can be realised.
Early voting for the Negeri Sembilan election is on July 28, while polling day is August 1.
