SHAH ALAM, July 17 — Eight scrap vehicles of various makes were involved in a fire at an open area along Jalan Kampung Bukit Kerayong, Kapar, this afternoon.
The Kapar Fire and Rescue Station said that it received an emergency call at 12.03pm, with a team arriving at the scene at 12.11pm.
The flames involved scrap vehicles that had been parked in the open area.
"Four vehicles — a Mercedes, Naza Suria, Naza Citra, and Proton Persona — were completely destroyed, while a Proton Exora, Perodua Kembara, Proton Wira, and Peugeot sustained damage ranging from 15 to 50 per cent," it said in a Facebook post.
"Empat kenderaan iaitu Mercedes, Naza Suria, Naza Citra dan Proton Persona musnah sepenuhnya, manakala Proton Exora, Perodua Kembara, Proton Wira dan Peugeot mengalami kerosakan antara 15 hingga 50 peratus," menurut kenyataan itu.
The station said firefighting operations were carried out using two first-aid hose lines, with water supplied from a support water tanker.
The operation was also assisted by a Fire Rescue Tender and a water tanker from the Bukit Jelutong Fire and Rescue Station.
"The fire was successfully brought under control and completely extinguished without any casualties," it said.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
