KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested 4,007 individuals and recorded RM1.13 billion in seizures in 2,866 cases throughout the country in the first six months of this year.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that the newest operation conducted was Op Intra/Inter (Ops Block Chain/Cryptocurrency) in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, from Tuesday (July 14) to Wednesday (July 15).
The operation, with the cooperation of the Inland Revenue Board, was aimed at curbing activities suspected of involving leakages of Malaysia's revenue and financial transactions linked to cryptocurrencies.
Investigations were conducted under Sections 112 and 113 of the Income Tax Act 1967 and Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, Anti-Restricted Activity Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
“This operation is a manifestation of the continued commitment to strengthening inter-agency enforcement to ensure all forms of financial crime and tax evasion can be curbed completely and effectively,” he said in a statement today.
Yusri added that they will continue to strengthen strategic partnerships with enforcement and taxation agencies to curb financial crime that impacts the national economy and ensures national revenue.
He also urged the public to continue to report suspicious activities to the authorities to help curb crime and protect national interests.
