SHAH ALAM, July 15 — The Selangor government and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will hold the Ex Urban Falcon Air Disaster Practical Drills near the Denai Alam rest stop on the Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) here tomorrow.
State executive councillor for disaster management Mohd Najwan Halimi said the drills will involve 450 emergency personnel to prepare them for future disasters.
He said the programme considers Selangor’s position as the gateway for international investments and tourism and its two strategic airports.
“These drills don’t just consider the environmental aspect, but also national security, strategic assets, safety assets, communications, and crisis management,” he told reporters after launching Ex Urban Falcon at Dewan Jubli Perak here today.

Najwan said the drills are the state government’s effort to prepare responders for any emergency situation involving the nation’s main entry points.
“Previously, the state government worked with Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd on simulation drills at the port, including robbery and pirate kidnapping situations,” he added.
The programme involves the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), and Health Ministry (MOH).
The drills, handled by MAHB, involve areas beyond the airports in an “aircraft accident off airport” two-phase scenario.
The first phase is a tabletop exercise at Dewan Jubli Perak, while the second phase is a full-scale exercise held near the Denai Alam rest stop.
