SHAH ALAM, July 15 — Twenty Selangor Youth Assembly members yesterday held a roundtable to discuss the state’s mobility issues, including recommendations for the Urban Mobility and Safety Transformation Blueprint motion, said Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron.
He added that the motion will be tabled at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
“This is the (kind of) space that must be provided for youth. Not just allowing them a voice, but bringing them into the real process of policy discussions, refinement, and eventual execution.
“Youth aren’t just heirs of the future; they must also become part of today’s decision-makers,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Danial also said he is impressed by the youth assemblymen’s involvement in state policymaking.
“When most youth their age are building careers and chasing their own dreams, they are choosing to spend their time thinking about Selangor’s future… studying issues, discussing, challenging ideas, and finding solutions that would benefit the people,” he added.
Also present at last night’s session were state executive councillors, senior agency officers, and councillors who acted as mentors and shared their experience in policymaking.
Earlier this month, the Selangor Youth Assembly was convened for two days, comprising 56 members chosen from 232 applications.
Since 2014, the programme has exposed youth aged between 18 and 35 to the democratic process, policymaking, and how the state assembly is run.
